snapshots of my life: week 38

pippi longstocking! kid writing in danish!
early morning, wrapped tight in snuggly, his second favorite blanket
this one is filed under "kids do the darndest things." he was asked to lay his clothes out for school - he took the job quite literally.  i thought the flag was a nice touch.
dressed and downstairs but not quite awake yet.
low resolution selfie next to the fjord
fishing with homemade pole
reeling it in but no catch.
view from the shore
we saw a few butterflies...this is the only one that stood still long enough to capture a picture.
furry-fuzziness growing right next to the water
we ventured to scandinavian animal park - this is a timeline of the park, 2013-14 out of view
on our way to the polar bear feeding. this poster is advocating to protect and save polar bears in the wild.
three of the four bears that we got to see up close. one is a mom and the others are her cubs (including the one not pictured)
a cub swimming over to a half of an apple
look at how cute his feet are sticking out behind him
he got really playful and began grabbing his feet and rolling over in the water
this hefty dude is one of two adult males in the park. he weighs over 500 kilograms.
mr. hefty stretched out
one who likes to yak standing next to the real thing!!
moose antlers

TIME TO SHARPEN MY TEETH!
brown bear feeding
the guide told us all about these northern european brown bears
the park boasts one of only ten mammoth skeletons in europe. it is estimated to be between 50,000 and 100,000 years old
the park offers an overnight camping experience for those who dare
aw, a beautiful creature that it seems a pity to see fenced up.  to their credit, the park has an incredible amount of space for each animal species and the animals seem healthy and well cared for.
fun fact: reindeer have antler velvet (some say it has medicinal powers) who knew?
