the weekend ushered in a lego showdown of sorts. it involved stages.

prince william's groom's cake: broken digestive biscuits coated in ganache and scraped into a round cake pan.
there are a number of takes on this simple and decadent dessert.  i went the basic route.

six consecutive days of sun!

not terribly pretty, but these will be delicious roasted beets when i am finished with them
(the paper towels are used to remove the skins - tedious)

my favorite picture of the week. beets removed from their cooking vessels and voila, color magic.

not the photo i was hoping for, but it will do. sliced and served with olive oil and salt and pepper, these are perfection.

newfound goodness: honey chocolate chip cookies. the key is to underbake them a bit to avoid a dry result.
